Pole Barn Roof Leak Fix?

I replaced my garage door seals on the barn today while the house was getting new windows installed. We finally got our first rain here in Indiana in a while. I went out to check the seals to make sure I did not make it worse. Everything looked good except one spot which was odd. I looked up and the top of the garage door was wet. Once I got up there to see what was going on, I noticed that water was dripping/dribbling in off-center and above the garage door where the wall the ceiling meet. Now, I cannot do much about it now (though my paranoia is making my mind run wild); but tomorrow morning, I intend to get a ladder and check out the roof.

I bought the place last year and never had any roof issues. I am assuming the original owner built the barn back in 2012 based on paperwork that I have found and some "interesting" DIY. Now, my barn is not run down or in disrepair.

Any recommendations/advice to look out for?

Get on the ladder then post photos. Run a hose above from where the leak is evident. Cant do anything without photos but “let paranoia run wild”.

Start researching proper flashing methods pertinent to your roof layout meanwhile

It's a metal roof. I think I find it. A screw is popped up. Other than just screwing it in. Any other suggestions? I have about another 4 hrs till the next rain comes in.

How's the little seal on the screw? If it looks janky, I'd replace it rather than screw it back in.

It looks ok, but I have a bag full of fasteners from replacing sheets on the side of the barn. I'm assuming those are the same size.

The hole maybe wallowed out, use a larger size screw, and/or put some sealant under the washer.
You talking about the hole in the wood?

Dip a couple toothpicks in wood glue and cram down in the hole. Let them dry, snap them off. Now the hole is not wallered out and your original size fastener will fit right.

That is a hansom building. That is a very common problem with metal roofs fastened to wood especially with dark colored panels. As the panels expand and contract the screws will tend to work out and the holes in the metal will become enlarged. Larger diameter screws with the same size head are available for just this problem. Buy a bag of matching screws to have on hand. This is not the last time this will happen.

It's important to drive the screw @ 90* for a proper seal of the rubber washer. It's a little forgiving, but easy to let a couple of angle'd screws "slip by" when you're putting in thousands of them.
That sealant is fine and relax a little, it'll be ok and you'll get it under control. 👍
Very nice building by the way!
