Hey Guys
I have a 30 x 40 pole barn with steel siding, and I'm going to add on a 32 x 32. I have to pull off the steel siding where I'm putting the addition. Does any one have any ideas how to get the nails out without messing up the siding since I want to use it over? Thanks Rob

I would consider cutting the nails off from inside, or use a flat bar to gently pry siding away from girts then pull the nails from outside using some wood blocks to protect the siding from damage.

Try a flat steel crowbar.
A flat crowbar is what I was thinking ,but its still going to get scratched up some . Probably can't be helped, I'll just have to touch up the siding when I reuse it. Thanks

I had to deal with this awhile back, and removed siding and frame in a pair of double doors and put siding back up. I used a hand tool like a nail nipper and clamped on the head of nail and wiggled them out with no damage to siding. Good luck.

I've tried removing pole barn nails before, I tried using a Wonder Bar, Crow Bar, hammer and a air chisel with the same results.....damaged sidding. Hopefully someone will have the answer, good luck.

My pole barn has hex head screws, never heard of nails through steel siding, nine inch end cutting nippers might work.

I'm looking to move a pole barn and a buddy forwarded his grandpas technique: take a pair of nail pinchers (pliers with a sharp end to grab the nail); weld an old slide hammer to the pliers; POP!

I wonder if a spot weld drill would work well for the nails heads as well???

This worked pretty well. Thanks
I figured that spending a little extra labor would be better than buying new siding...
Was it similar to drilling out pop rivets?

Yes pretty much like a pop rivet. I didnt have to center punch them, the head of the nail has a cross hatch patern on them so I just center the drill bit and it stays there. As I'm drilling the nail gets hot and the rubber washer starts to somke just about that time I'm thru and the head of the nail spins up the drill bit.
