Pole Barn Slab Edge

I am getting ready to start my garage build that I have been envisioning in my head for the last 20 or so years. The 36x50 pole barn will go up next week. After the roof goes up, I get to DIY it. My question is, what slab edge details did you guys end up going with? I am familiar with the 2x2 notch that's typically used in commercial metal buildings, just wondering what you guys think the best approach is.

I plan on using 2x4 wall girts outside the poles so I guess I would have to offset the notch by 1.5"? Anyone have any pics of theirs?

If you are going to be driving vehicles into and onto the slab, be sure to put an adequate footer under the edge, with steel, to prevent any cracking at the entry opening.

I completely agree with the previous poster, reinforce the entry where you will be driving in. When mine was poured, I actually poured mine a full 6" thick the width of the door and then in about 20 ft, with an 8" ledge under the door. So far no cracks. That was with wire mesh and rebar and no fiber.

The company I used to work for in the industry would do a 12" x 12" reinforced area at each overhead door opening, with a 3/4" slope away from the garage door to run water away. This was all tied into the rest of the slab with wire mesh.

I visited some of our buildings that were over 20 years old... they looked perfect still.

Sorry if I didn't accurately describe my question, but I appreciate the suggestions. I was mainly concerned with the metal panel notch or closure condition at the top of slab. I am leaning toward the condition described in the attached picture, but of course substitute the z-girt with a 2x4. This is typical in the commercial metal building trade, but may be overkill for a personal building?

I still am not sure what you are describing. My pole building has a 2x6 skirt board on the the outside of the poles. That board is used as the form for the interior concrete slab. The wall metal attached to the outside of the skirt board should have a rat guard trim piece at the bottom to seal the metal.

I'm not understanding either. pole barn's don't sit on a slab. the slab is inside the building, around the posts, enclosed by the skirt board. the skirt board is flush with the 2x4 girts on the outside of the poles (posts actually).

yea that picture looks like your setting poles on the same concrete structure as the floor?! here is a pic of my around the pole situation .. the poles are sunk 48" down in the earth setting on a concrete footing and the floor is just at grade poured against em,, with an expansion joint around them that is.. mine is insulated due to radiant heat but I guess most just pour against the mud sill.. also a pic of the stick framing, notice the girts are 2x6.. with 12' ceilings the code was 2x6 here

Mine is built on the slab using brackets anchored in the slab.
No notch, the slab is flat.
