My building has 3 12X12 overhead doors, with 18" dutch corners. I am using overhead door trim (has the jamb trim and J channel built in) what is the best way to do the corners so they look nice? Did a few test fits and can't seem to come up with a technique that suits me at all.

Pictures would *really help* to get more and better responses.

What I can say with great generalization is that mitered corners look good to me, but the lower trim laps up and the actual miter is cut in the upper trim, to promote water shedding.

Yeah I want to do mitered cuts, just tough trying to figure out the overlap.

Leave the horizontal intact and make the 45°miter on the vertical. If you have trouble imagining it, go look at some other siding, vinyl or steel doesn't matter...all the same principle.
