Pole Barn using Commercial Girts-Questions

Hey Guys.

I am looking to build a pole barn, and I am really liking the idea of building it using the "commercial girt" method. I have searched for pics and haven't found what I am looking for. I understand the blocking on the posts and the installation of the girts, BUT what do you do at the bottom, for the splash board? Are the posts notched for the splash board to set flush on the outside? Also, same thing on top......how are the girts at the top of the walls for the trusses to set on, attatched? Notched posts? Sorry, I just can't seem to visualize these. Any help, explainations, and/or pics would be great!

Can someone define "commercial girt"?

I just had a pole building put up, since it was done with glu-lams (22 footers) they didn't notch, they used 6" screws to attach to the top. The skirt board is fastened to the outside of the poles. (2X10 treated)

When my father in laws building was put up (6X6 treated posts) they DID notch, only the insides, this way the outsides are flush all the way down with the sides and bottom.

It's also known as a flush frame, where the girts are not fastened to the outside of the poles, but are layed down between them resting on other boards, thus making it possible to finish the inside with standard batts, and wall materials. See the pics in my build thread

I had checked out your build, and the stockade site as well. I guess the trusses are only placed on top of the posts ala Morton, etc. so the spacing of the trusses dictates the pole placement? That way the top girt will be just like the others in the wall. I can make out in the pic with the cupola there is a splash board turned up at the bottom, Is it cut to fit between the posts, I assume? Also, the extra row about 3' up is just to attatch the wainscot too? Thanks for the help........
