Why do all the pole building photos I've seen have the lowest girt - the treated one forming the slab pour- With the top of it like a few inches ABOVE the finished slab elevation? instead of level like when forming a driveway or sidewalk?

Then they could run their screed board on it, instead of estimating where to hold it. Or do they cut a notch at the end of their screed 2x4 to ride on the top edge?

The only reason I can figure, is so the exterior steel can get a little higher above the exterior grade moisture. Thanks all, Lars

I happen to have a Hansen kit in progress. I recently poured my slab, but did so before the walls were built. Basically roof only, and did not use the treated 2x8 for forms. Instead I formed with 2x4 and 2x6 set so that the tops could be used to screed and I could edge the slab. The forms get replaced by the treated skirt boards before the walls go up.
