Pole Barn window trim dilemma

Hey folks, I'm working on wiring my pole building and I've arrived at an issue. I'm planning on using these adjustable single gang boxes on horizontal girts attached to inside poles. I plan on putting girts up that match the outside horizontal girts but I'm only putting these up now to support the electrical boxes, as I hope to spray foam in the future.




The problem I have arrived at is that the depth of the glu-lam pole isn't "dimensional" so to speak, it's 5 1/4".



This hasn't been a problem until I reached the framing that the builders left me around the window. This depth is measuring about 5 and 7/16 from the surface of the exterior horizontal grit.



If I run a piece of 2x4 to this framing (like this), I'm going to be proud about a 1/4".

I've included a picture of a laser level where the top of my 2x4 will sit.



So far I'm thinking my options are to basically rip down the existing window trim by 1/4 inch, or take it off and put new window framing up, which I'd like to avoid as it was nailed in from the exterior. I was thinking about notching where my girts will go but that will make putting up the other trim pieces around the window just as difficult. Does anyone else have any ideas that I'm just not thinking about?

Plane or rip 1/4" off the face of the 2 x 4 where it passes the window? Should be able to rip it with a table saw.

Nail a 2x6 to the glulam to match the window

Think about how you're going to trim that window once you sheath the inside. I bet you need to add about 1 1/2" jamb extensions right now.

Also, 5 1/4" is "dimensional" for a PT 6x6.

Where did you come up with that info?. Any nominal 6" lumber is 5.5" in width. Eastern PT lumber could be anywhere from 5.5" to 5.75" depending on treatment moisture content, but they are finished at 5.5" before treatment.

Handheld Power planer will knock down that 2x framing quickly to the same plane as the interior face of the posts and they won't have to come off. If you're good with a circular saw you could remove the bulk of the material then it it once or twice with the planer

Turn the electrical boxes on their side and mount directly to thr horizontal purlins. Fir out around the windows as you show here.

Wait for it to dry.

Yes, they are more than 5.5" when wet but will dry close to 5.5". There is no industry standard that equates to 5.25" final dimension. Depending on any of them to "dry" to less than 5.5" is a poor odds gamble.
