Pole Barn Windows Leak

Hi,

I have a 40 x 60 pole barn. To my chagrin, it came with 5 Anderson windows put in by previous owner.
I want to finish the inside, but water drips in under the left and right side of ALL the windows.
I have sealed the entire perimeter of the windows - inside and out - and problem continues.
I have resigned that sealant is not the answer and windows I will probably have to be redone. I'm OK with that, but I only want to do it once.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Leaky

Not sure how tight your siding is around your window, but there is no drip edge above the window. If you have some wiggle room you can try and slip it in between the siding and the topmof the window.

My best guess is the top of the Z flashing that runs into the J trim. The installers probably just ran it into the J and didn't turn a tab up on the end and seal it.

It appears the windows must come out for a re-do.

I've never installed windows, but can learn.

So what is the better choice in lieu of J trim?

Thanks.

The Z- flash would be best, you have to think like a water drop, and figure out how to deal with him as he runs down the top of the siding, how it rolls out of the end of the J- or Z- and how you keep it from emptying behind the siding at the bottom.

It takes a system of metal laps and some polyurethane caulk is a good idea. Silicone or roof cement where exposed to sunlight.
