Pole building builder needed in Berks, PA

Hello,

I have been searching on this forum on and off for years. I am closing in on putting in a 30'W x 40'D pole building with doors (or wide single door) on the gable. I live in SE PA, Berks County. Anyone have any recommendations on an outfit to hire? I will only be doing the excavation myself. I have looked at Pioneer Pole Buildings and Wood Originals thus far. My budget is very limited, so much that I won't be able to put in a concrete floor right away, might even skip windows for the time being. Just going to be a simple 30 x 40 with eaves, two tone metal siding, ridge vent and gutters. Thanks in advance for any info.

Pioneer put up my 30x40x10. Very easy to work with. I had to have the plans changed several times due to issues with the lebanon county building permitting. I also wanted the trusses 2' OC instead of 4' OC so i had more options with finishing the ceiling. Each time the plans were revised timely. In 9 hours and 7 guys, it was up and done. They use a local garage door company (Shank Doors) who also are very good. They use RigidPly Rafters for laminated beams if necessary and i forget where my trusses came from. They did not do my concrete only because my friend does that for a living. It has been 13 months and all is well.

The photo was taken within minutes after they were done and left.

After getting quotes from a lot of pole barns companies, I selected New Frontier Builders. Not only was their price excellent, they were a good company to deal with. We can PM back and forth if you want more information or you could contact Leon (the owner) @ 484-794-2220.

Couple of notes from my build:
1. I used Perma-Columns. Very happy with them and would use them again.
2. If I had it to do again, I would use 6x6 posts instead of 4x6 posts. Even if you don't need the larger columns for load, in general the 6x6 posts are straighter.

I was in the industry in the past and learned quite a bit about the various companies etc. In the end, after I left my company (and the industry) to return to corporate work, I used New Frontier to do work at my place.

Leon is awesome, the crew works hard and is polite, their prices are very competitive... And they'll work with you on "upgrades" such as Perma-Columns etc.

The couple of upgrades I'd suggest you mention are:
- perma-columns and 6x6 as noted above
- Ensure that the trusses are rated for ceiling finishes (insulation, sheetrock)
- Skirt board wrap (ensures that the only wood-to-ground contact point is protected)

edit.. One other company you could consider is http://www.corestructuresinc.com/ These guys were Kistler Building guys and got sick of the pricing and other issues, so they started their own small operation. I know the foreman (John) really well... he's no joke, knows his stuff.

Having Stoltzfus Builders do mine in a couple of weeks. Someone else on here had one built by these guys. Mine is 24x36x9
