Pole Building Ceiling?

Looking to put up a ceiling in my pole building garage and struggling budget-wise. The metal like the outside would be almost $2k just for materials and $600 for labor!! That's about 15% of what my building cost!

I would use the tuff-r foam board but my trusses are on 4ft centers, not 2 so I don't think it would span that far and support the weight of the insulation I want to put up there.

Any other ideas?

I have a smaller building that I put OSB up for the ceiling. Its definitely cheaper, but you have to make sure you don't have any moisture problems as it can pucker. I painted the sheets first and then hung (cut as needed). If you are going to have someone do it for you, I don't think the labor costs will shrink.

You might be able to buy a thinner metal for interior use. Sometimes seconds (small scratch or dimple) is considerably cheaper. Check the ads in some farm publications.

Get used steel for the ceiling. Extra screw holes are benificial in a ceiling for noise dampening. You can always paint it, so rust or discoloration isn't an issue either.

Put the tuff r between the 4' truss instead of trying to span it . If you rip 1 1/2 " off of the 8' side the boards will slip right in between the bottom truss chords. Then you use 4" deck screws and 2" fender washers to attach the panels to the bottom side of the rat runs. You may want to add a couple extra rat runs so that the spaceing is better.Trim the bottom edge of the truss wood with 1 x 4. Paint it on the floor then screw it to the bottom chord, createing a "batten" look. Now you back out the screws used to install the tuff r so that it lowers down against the battens. This is what I'm going to do and then go up into the attic and blow10" of cellulose on the back side of the foam.

I ran 2x4x20' on the bottom of the trusses in my 30x40 with 5' span between trusses, and then covered with OSB and painted. I put one every 24" if I recall correctly, so there is plenty of meat to screw into. Works great.
