I have a polebarn ,Id like to puta loft in .
Looking for ideas. Its 400sq ft . I just want a small loft on back one half.
My plan was to use three existing poles as supports , than using a cross member to go up to for the corner.

I would suggest not using the existing post and build the loft as self supporting. You should be fine attaching braces to existing post for added stability, just not to support additional weight. Chip.

The designer of the building might be able to tell you if the posts are strong enough to support a loft, but most likely dependent on the post footings.

If this is something you want to use for lighter weight storage I would do it without worry, but I like to live on the edge:D

Do a little research and find the lvl you would need for the front support, the width will depend on how deep you want the loft to be.

If the loft is for hanging out/drinking on a couch at the end of the day go for it. If its for storing objects I would recommend making sure it will hold the load.
