So I am in the planning stage for my 32 X 48 X 16' pole building. Due to the cost of this project, my plan (hope actually) is to begin construction in early spring, and get the complete shell finished before winter. (Roofing, sheeting, doors, windows, etc) I won't be able to afford the interior concrete until the following year. I would like to build a 32 X 8 mezzanine across the back (end) wall right off the bat so I can begin putting stuff into the shop from out of my basement. I know that typically you would build a support system on top of the concrete floor to support the mezzanine, but I was thinking of putting in a couple more 6 X 6 posts at the time of construction to support it. My thinking is that if I can put a bunch of the loose stuff up there, it won't be in my way, or need to be moved outside when it comes to adding the concrete.

I guess my question is if this would cause any unforeseen problems?

Additionally, I had tossed the idea around of doing the concrete in stages. Like say 3 separate pours? Would that be OK if I left the rebar sticking out of each pour so the next could be anchored to it? (Concrete and hauling is very expensive where I am at)

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

You could pour a couple of concrete piers the same height that your floor will be and build off of them. Then later when you pour the floor pour right up to them.

I designed in the mez on my build below and also on my old shop which is similar. The old shop I kicked the roof up on that bay to have headroom in the mez. This shop below I just raised the whole roof. By adding the two extra poles I eliminated a truss set so the cost was actually reduced. Post #5 shows the extra poles and post #11 shows the mez going in.

Hey Larry, yours looks great. Very similar to what I am envisioning.

One thing that I did change from the old shop to the new is to raise the roof pitch from 3/12 to 4/12. I gives quite a bit more room upstairs. In the old shop I had stairs in the corner of the building and the new one they come off the shop floor. Coming off the shop floor gives more floor space in the mez and the room below. Stairs in the shop gives me a compressor room under the stairs.

Here we have poles on a 12' pitch so the upstairs is near 12x36' and with no truss at the top of the stairs its easy to do the landing and door. I did work with a pole building designer to get things worked out. The mez was designed in but not installed till later in the project.

I plan on going with 16' walls, so there should be plenty of room in the mezzanine area. It's only real purpose is for storage anyway.
