Exterior finish is close to complete. Exterior electrical fixtures are next.

Thanks to help on the Garage Journal:), the garage door solution on the bay with the scissors trusses will no longer interfere with a lift.

Electrical is next.

Pretty cool how a garage door will lift way out of your way. That gives me a great idea for my own man land!

Very nice!! I like the styling of the garage. All of the trimwork really adds character to it. I notice that your fascia leans back towards the garage instead of running parallel with the walls. Are you planning on hanging gutters, and if so, what style of hangers? We nee some more inside pics too:bounce:

I like it.
You showed some imagination with the half scissors truss bay.
And I like the styleing.
You are proving a pole barn dosn't have to look like a tin box runnaway from some industrial park.

1. Gutters yes - half round style same as the house

2. The trim is 2 x southern yellow pine zinc borate pressure treated, two coats of alcohol based shellac, primer and Sherman Williams paint. Certainteed vinyl siding

3. Basic building is a Conestoga shell, agricultural roof, Wayne Dalton doors.

I'm presently pulling together as much info as possible on electrical and starting to plan it out.

Here are some views of the interior. What I envision is to erect a wall separating the two car bays from the other 3rd of the building containing a wood working shop. I'd like to include an internal 9 to 10' sliding door [barn style]in that wall so I can move large items throughout the building. The area forward of the car parking will function as storage and auto shop.

I like it alot. What are the dimensions & what is the total height?

I also like the old english style garage doors. What is the name of them?

The building is 28' x 36'. Conestoga has 8', 10', and 12' first floor heights shown on their web site. This is their 10' option (slab to bottom of the joists). It has a 10:12 pitch roof giving it a total height of ~ 22'.

The attic trusses combine 2x8 and 2x6 construction. The all chords of the scissors trusses are 2x6.

The insulation under the agricultural roof is a Conestoga option. Originally I was going to have Conestoga install the base and pour the concrete slab. But my house builder, Chesapeake Custom Builders, inc came up with a better price combining it with a couple other concrete jobs on the house. In addition, wire mesh and vapor barrier are extras for Conestoga, but standard for my builder and I had confidence my home builder would ensure the slab was cured the way I wanted.

The Conestoga part was ~ $34,000. Slab, exterior trim and the garage door mod on the scissors truss bay has added another $10K.

That is real nice. Are you putting Cabinets or custom shelving inside? With a garage that nice i think i would get the Garage Floor done to just to seal it and make it look complete.

L+10 - Great looking place you have going there. It's great to see someone else in NoVa putting up a new garage.

This is my "pole barn" project. This has been a very long time project built on a pay-as-you-go basis with all work, except the floor, done by myself and my dad while he was alive. 32 X 60 with 11 foot ceiling.

I will post more pictures and details at a later time.
