Howdy all...
Just bought a new house (yay!) with polished concrete floors (radiant heat too) throughout. The house is only ten years old, but the floors could use a re-do. They were sealed correctly back when built, and they aren't chewed up or stained by any means, but now that the house is empty, I'd like to re-seal them before moving in.
Question is: What is involved in "re-do-ing" my fine polished concrete floors? Does one have to use a floor-buffer-type appliance to strip off the dirt and any previous sealer, or do you just scrub-clean the floors and apply a new layer? And, a layer of WHAT, exactly? I am pretty confused by all the products. I'd like a shiny, non-porous finish, almost like a urethane-type product, that would prevent spills from soaking into the grain and creating permanent stains.... I think?
I mean, these floors are NICE (so is the house) so I want to make sure they are done right before I move in and accidentally trash them by not having them sealed right or whatever.... I want them to look as polished and nice as possible.
I'll probably have a pro service do it (I'm on a job right now and got no time) but I gotta edumacate myself so's I know what to ask for!
Anybody have these floors or maybe do this for a living? Thanks!
