Polished Concrete Questions

The concrete floor in my shop was polished a few years ago.
The area has been used for storage until a few weeks ago when the drywall was completed.
Drywall guys were able to clean it up very well.
But vehicle storage has taken its toll on the floor.

The problem: The polished floor has little resistance to spills/drips, and vehicles leave tire marks even when sitting in the same spot for as little as 24 hours.

The floor has had a grocery list of chemicals applied to it.
Concrete Bonding Adhesive & Acrylic Fortifier (Silka – Sika Latex R)
Algae & Mold Preventative, Clear Surface Treatment (Simix)
Penetrating / Densifying Sealer (Simix)
Premium Concrete Enhancer (Bellatrix)

What am I missing?
The concrete seems to be more susceptible to stains after being polished.

From a distance, it looks great. Up close, not so much.

Any ideas how to proceed or improve on what I had done?

Thanks –

Jerry

You will have to take it back a few steps and re-polish.
From there you can use a stain-guard and burnish.

This is why we don't advise polishing a garage floor.
Even in a food store you can't do anything about pickle juice staining the floor. Try adding some color on the next go around, it will help hide the highs and lows.

I am so glad you posted this. Polished concrete is not a great idea for a garage, specially in a wintery area. I've seen this happen from neglect or just the ravashing of winter salt. All that can be done now is re grind and start the polishing again or give it a good coating system.
