Polishing VCT Floor

Well, I finally have the VCT floor installed in the shop area next to my garage and want to get some wax/polish on it before I install the baseboard and start moving items back in.

For those of you who have done this, what did you use? I purchased the Armstrong polish (S-403 I believe) but is that the best polish to use? The instructions said to apply it with a mop... OK... Wool or sponge? Any pros or cons to buffing the floor out after the fact as opposed to not? Maybe I'm overthinking this, but I'd rather avoid any pitfalls and do it right the first time.

Just looking for a little direction here and would like feedback from others on their course of action.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Stan Falenski

Stan, I laid down 5 coats of Armstrong Shinekeeper Long Lasting Floor Polish with a sponge mop before moving all my stuff into the garage. That was last July. In the fall I did 2 more coats but then buffed them with an el cheapo floor polisher. The shine was better the second time but I'll probably use the Armstrong Cleaner (Once n' Done) in the next few weeks and just mop some polish on again. The buffing looked nice but was more effort than I am going to put into a GARAGE floor again.

Steve,

Thanks for the comments.

The area that I'm working in is more of a shop/storage area and while it is attached to the garage, it won't see anything but foot traffic.

I'm debating at this point whether to go with the buffer or not... Probably a last minute decision.

Again, thanks for the feedback on my questions.

Regards,

Stan
