Nobody here has said it, but you can't estimate your need for BTU's by asking others what they use. you need to know WHAT insulation, and how many heating degree days / climate to know what's right for your situation.

manual J calculation is what you want. For your building. Otherwise you've got more variables than equations to solve.

Please post up your shop size, either in square footage or rough dimensions...........and also what BTU your NG heater is

R38 ceiling
R20'ish walls...2x6 open cell
R13 doors
2"xps 4' down on outside and inside of foundation
1"xps under 4" floor

Heating with NG radiant closed loop system. About 30,000btu but that varies with the delta t
I also stubbed a extra gas line in the ceiling in case I needed to put a modine or some type of hot air furnace if the radiant couldn't keep up or the temp recovery was too slow. So far tho i an 100% happy with the radiant...I do not see myself adding another heat source

Since I would only be heating the shop for 3-4 months max, I can deal with the added NG bill

D45.....in your original post you only wanted to know sq. footage and BTU. Then the Cobbler gave you that info and now you wanted how well it heats without out insulation!? What do you want to know.....what's the question?
