poly on top of latex

if this is in the wrong place.....beat me up for it....move it...sorry.....

anyways......

i want to apply oil based polyurethane over exterior grade latex paint. will it work or will i have a sticky goey mess?

it is already painted and i am just waiting for it to dry thoroughly.....5 days or so.

If the latex was old and fully cured, and you took care that it had no flaking problems, the oil base should dry and cover just fine.
