Polyurea Odor

Hi guys

I recently did a epoxy floor in my garage, I bought the product from garagecoatings.com (Versatile Building Products). I ordered the Roll On Rock garage floor kit which came with their 4195 epoxy, epoxy chips, 5205 clear fast seal and 5073 Polyurea with retarder. I ordered it with the retarder since this was my first try doing this it would give me more time to work with. It's been 2 weeks since I did the floor and the odor is still very strong. I followed the install instructions to a tee. The first 3 days we left the garage door and the man door at the opposite end of the garage open, the 4th day we closed the garage door, the 7day we closed both doors. The following morning I checked the garage after being closed for the night, the smell was very strong. I called Versatile about it, they said to clean the floor with a degreaser and that should take care of it, I tried 3 different degreasers and the smell is still strong. Called Versatile again, they said to give it more time and that the products they sent could not be mixed wrong, the smell will go away and sorry but there is nothing else we can do for you.

So my question is, is this really normal? Does it take a month or two for the smell to go away. Could it have been the retarder? I've done a little research on this and hope to not have to grind this stuff off and start over.

Any thoughts, ideas, help would be greatly appreciated.

I did my shop floor with polyurea. It is a very strong odor at the beginning, but it does get better. I had to stay out of my shop almost two weeks after putting the finish on. It was only unpleasant for the first month. After that it wasn't too bad.
