Polyurea to asphalt or notch?

So, my garage slab sticks out about 1" beyond the garage door where it meets the asphalt driveway. I noticed that some installers cut a notch in the slab under the garage lip and stop the coat there.

I am wondering if I should cut the notch or go all the way to the asphalt with the Nohr-S system. Or if it really makes a difference in terms of durability. :dunno:

Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks.

Howdy sir.
The reason we want you to stop at the door is because there’s a good likelihood that moisture will get in and under the slab at that leading edge against the asphalt. It could then want to come back up through the concrete and collect underneath the Polyurea, causing issues.

Thanks

Wow, that was fast. Thank you Scotty. Good to know, I didn't even realize it was due to potential moisture issues. So, notch it is then :)

Digging up an old thread as I'm currently in process of installing nohr-s. If I were to stop the coating at the door, how do you properly finish the edge of coating so that no lifting occurs? Also, any recommendations on how to finish the few inches of exposed exterior concrete to keep it protected?

You can notch, cover with a rubber seal or most just end it.
You can use our HD6600MMA with a color-bomb, this will be breathable for the last few inches.

Thanks!
