Is there a polyurethane coating that will adhere directly to VCT? If so, can some sort of "grippy stuff" be added to it to improve traction when wet?

I've got nearly 1500sf to do and, while I love the idea of using Fred's 1109 and then his polyurethane, that would completely blow the budget.

I would not put anything over the VCT without an epoxy primer.
Use a waterborne clear primer with an MCU over top, soft skid for grip.
or...
100% solids clear and then an MCU with soft-skid added for grip.

"Urethane only" over VCT equals saran wrap!!

I'm pretty sure he's referring to a moisture cure urethane, which is a different class of product than "polyurethane."

Ahh, got it. I've seen several references to using some-sort-of-urethane over VCT to prevent yellowing and thought, "Why not skip the middle layer of epoxy then?" Looks like from Legacy's post and some stuff I found in old threads, that's a bad idea.

Because it's inexpensive and easy to install, vinyl composition tile (VCT) serves as a favorite choice for do-it-yourself home and commercial flooring!!
