OK so I have gotten my hands on a free pop up camper that is trashed. I also had a stripped pop up camper frame given to me. So I traded one of the frames for all the steel and use of welders and shop I need to make it a utility trailer. I plan on widening the axle to get full use of my deck. If anyone is interested in this build I can update with the promise of pictures!!

If you plan to tow ATVs or riding mowers on it, I'd sure make a tilt-type trailer out of it. I would like to see photos of whatever you do.

Yeah that's what I plan to do atvs and mowers. I thought about making it a tilt but that's more work then I'm willing to put in on such a light trailer. I have yet to make any head way on the trailer with a busted truck and a sick 2 yr old. I'll take some pictures of the frame and such tomorrow. Here's the truck that it will be pulled behind.

I'm not to sure how I'm going to get this thing moved. The plus side is one tire is up and there is a good looking spar with it.

I'm trying to get this one as well.

To give you an idea of how I did mine, I converted a Palomino tent trailer to a utility trailer and it worked out very well. Basically I stripped it down to the frame and axle and cut/screwed down two 4x8 marine grade plywood sheets down to fit the 6x8 deck of the frame. I used bolt-on stake pockets around the sides and front and made simple stake rack sides out of 2x4s and used corner stake rack connectors. The rear ramp was made from a sheet of plywood and 2x4s, all bolted to the trailer deck with large hinges.

If I were to do it again, which I will be since the wood needs to be replaced after 16 years, I'll go with a metal mesh ramp since the plywood one was too much of a wind drag.

A little bit of the trailer can be seen in the picture.

That's kinda what I'm going to do when I come up with the free time. I plan on a wood deck I might go expanded metal tho idk. Metal sides at least to the wheels so I can still load an atv cross ways on the back. One of them is a 6x10 and I'm guessing a 6x8 I haven't took a tape to it yet.

Got the bumper cut off and moved up front for decking support. I welded a few more pieces of steal in but didn't get pictures. Had to pack up in a hurry to make it to work.

Cool project. I have an old pop-up that I might convert if I can't sell it as-is. I don't need another utility trailer, so I might build a teardrop camper on it.
