Hey Chris

Iam checking in as I was instructed to do, per a e-mail I had from POR-15 Depot I had on Sunday.
What is the latest from the main office?
I was told that the main office will only do a one time refund. If you have any of the floor armor and require a refund let Chris know so this can be passed on to corperate.

The problem that I have is I opened my bucket to check the inventory inside and to check for the correct color. I had ordered 2 basic kits, one for me and one for a friend. POR 15 Depot took the unopened bucket right back, but since I opened the second bucket I will have to jump through the hoops with the rest of you for a refund,

I thought I had my garage floor covered when this product came out. Now I am back to step one in finding a floor paint. Any suggestions. I love all the info I have come across on this site.

Thanks
Mike

I really started something when I started this post. Never thought it would get this big.

WOW a one time refund on the product not used. How about the **** we used on the floor that is peeling up every time it rains. If I have the chance this weekend I will update my thread on POR-15 start to finish. I sent Chris a PM and have yet to hear anything back from him. I guess that nothing is going to be done and I am out the $700.00 plus my time.

How about if I send you back the empty cans. I think we have all been waiting for a proper response and I have maintained my cool, NOW I AM PISSED OFF.

I'm going to call Chris again soon about the refund. I'm tired of waiting. I received some more sample tiles today and have determined which one I'm going with, but I'm not going to order until I get my money back. I told Chris this over the phone and I'll post it here too,

POR-15 Depot's page for Floor Armor says the following:
POR-15 Depot said:
9. Satisfaction Guaranteed! Guaranteed not to chip, crack or peel.

I'm not satisfied and my floor both chipped and peeled. If you're going to make a guarantee like that, then this really shouldn't be that hard.

ps, that guarantee and the lack of epoxy-like prep were the reasons I bought this product. I figured that if they were confident enough to make that statement, then I'd be problem free.

Also, I happen to run across the "directions" - I use that term loosely - for the application. If I can get the damn scanner to work, I'll post them up for everyone to read.

I too want a refund. I purchased over $1500 of product plus spent money and time sanding my floor. My total invested on POR 15 was over $2,000.
Now, I have a floor that only works in dry weather. But, Chris and POR 15 Corporate are in DENIAL about the POOR 15 product.

The fact is Fast Cop and I are "screwed" out of our money. A refund of some sort is clearly due to "early" POR 15 purchasers. In fact, we "field tested" this product and showed its flaws. Corporate should be paying us for doing the leg work they failed to do on POR 15. Perhaps, we should e-mail a TV lawyer and start a Class Action lawsuit for product cost plus time and aggravation. In my case that would be about $4-$5,000 minimum.

POR 15 is a LEMON and a flawed product that needs an immediate recall and halt in production.

Not to add more fuel to the fire, but it is a known fact that Rustoleum and Sherwin Williams have no problem refunding people's money when the final product does not live up to their expectations.

I am confident POR-15 will follow suit and give you your money back.

Have you guys tried to call the corporate and talk to them?
I think it will be a much faster way to get your refund.

If these guys are not responsive to your calls, its much better to write a letter. It creates a paper trail, and much more likely to end up on the desk of someone who is in a position to do something about the problem. Its easier to get a letter on that persons desk than it is to get thru to them on the phone.

Make sure the letter addresses your local unfair trade practice statutes. Here in CT, we have CUTPA (CT Unfair Trade Practices Act). Most states have similar statutes. Send a copy of the letter to POR-Depot, as well as Corporate - one copy to customer service, and one to the marketing department. These guys dont like to hear about these problems ruining all the hard work they do to create a good brand for themselves, so they are motivated to make you guys happy.

Where is POR 15 Depot in this matter? Why doesn't Chris go to bat for us? He has our REAL names and addresses and knows what we paid because we purchased the stuff from his company.

POR 15 Depot needs to do customer support here and send the letter for all of us with KNOWN product failure due to a DEFECTIVE product. Our other alternative is band together for a CLASS ACTION lawsuit against POR 15 Depot and Corporate. Any lawyers willing to take the case?

I an no fan of lawyers in our nation. I believe people sue for riduculous reasons and "abuse" our legal system. But, in this case, POR 15 Corporate is selling a defective product and making false claims about the advantages of its Floor Armor system.

POR 15 Corporate needs a wake-up call that the American Consumer won't stand for FALSE ADVERTISING and bad products.

NOW, Seal your floor permanently with all-new Floor-Armor floor Painting kits. from the makers of POR-15. This kit contains enough product to cover a 1 1/2 car garage. Or a 400 sq/foot area.

KITS HAVE EVERYTHING TO DO THE JOB YOURSELF.
Better preparation system equals better results ! Competitive products require using either muriatic acid or flooding floors with water for surface preparation. This results in locking in moisture which causes deterioration of the concrete. With Floor Armor™, there is no need to endure the fumes of muriatic acid or flooding the floor. The Floor Armor™ dry system of surface preparation GUARANTEES results.
Solvent based low voc urethane technology outperforms water-based epoxies . Water-based coatings are not proven for long term protection. Floor Armor™ uses proven POR-15® urethane technology.
Floor ARMOR™ IS engineered to be Resistant to chemicals, abrasion, heat and impact. Epoxy coatings on the other hand are not only very brittle but extremely porous therefore failing much earlier in comparison.
No hot tire pEEL ups ! Some epoxy floor kits come with plastic tire “pads” because of poor heat resistance. Not Floor Armor ™ !
COLOR CHIPS AVAILABLE TO CREATE your OWN LOOK AND/OR HIDE IMPERFECTIONS ON FLOOR SURFACE . Color chips can also be purchased individually for additional customization. Decorative chips also pull the eye away from the inherent imperfections in concrete floors making a rough surface look new and smooth.
5 FANTASTIC COLORS. Light Gray, Dark Gray, Tan, Beige and White.
OPTIONAL WATER CLEAR & EXTREMELY DURABLE CLEARCOAT. Excellent resistance to chemicals, oil and salts. Also perfectly seals in decorative vinyl chips.
Satisfaction Guaranteed! Guaranteed not to chip, crack or peel.

*************************************************

This is from their web site. SATISFACTION GUARANTEED and also less prep work than other products.

I think they are hoping we will just let this thread die and get off the first page and we will let it go away. I am at the point now that I will put this thread TTT every day and not let this matter "GO AWAY" as I think they (POR-15) hope it will.

Refund - at least half - NOW!!!!!!!!

Oh and by the way I sent Chris a PM about two weeks ago and still no response. What happened to the great customer service. I thought the customer was always right!!!! I know in this case we are!!!!!

I would not rely on a PM sent through here any more. Chris may not be checking daily for messages and any way, you should be sending an e-mail or registered letter to his dad, Dave. Chris is just an employee as I believe that Dave is the owner of the business.

You may want to contact the Better Business Bureau in their state to see if there is any thing they can do to help. Good luck. Their statement of Satisfaction Gauranteed should be lived up to no matter what they say. If not, it's false advertising.

First of all i want to apoligize for not responding for a while I have been out of town on Business and just returned. I have not just run off and left anyone hanging. And before I go any furthure please let me state on the matter of a " Law Suit".

Texas law (We are a Registered Corperation in the State of Texas) states that I have to mention before I go forward. If any mention of a legal suit is mentioned the defendent (us) has the right to hire legal counsaul at that point to prepair to defend and/or defend the the corperation. All legal fees from that point are billable to the parties filing the suit unless we are found liable. Even if the case never is brought to court, Texas law holds to filing parties liable for all leagle fees. From that point I can not comment or be involved in the matter, it gets turned over to the lawyers. Now that being said, I'll ignore the threat of law suits, as all I'm trying to do is get the issue resolved as fast and effective as I am allowed to do on my end.

First off, SATISFACTION GUARANTEED, is stated for all POR-15 products and is covered 100% We have already issued several refunds on this clause and will continue to do so as required. As with any chemical type application the proof of product failure and not customer application failure is a very hard thing to prove without extensive testing. In most cases of this type, The burdon of proof falls on the applicator.

As an "Authorized Distributor" of POR-15 Products we are held to a contract with POR-15, Inc that states.

5.(a) The “POR-15 Money Back Guarantee” is only valid for end user sales of $500 or lower. The guarantee only warrants the physical Product sold and does not include any other fees or charges associated with the original order. This money back guarantee warrants only that the physical Product is free of defects and by no means includes any charges or fees related to the preparation, application, or any labor associated with said application. All claims for refund or replacement should be referred to the Company prior to acceptance, and must comply with Section IV, Paragraph 2 of this Agreement. Only Company authorized returns or refunds are valid.

Section IV (2) states we can't make waranties beyond the sates POR-15 product waranty in about 500 words.

With that said I have to prove PRODUCT FAIULURE and not APLLICATION FAILURE to POR-15, Inc. Now I pay no mind the the $500 limit they impose as if the product is bad, it's bad, end of story. We have not had any issues remotely like this anywhere else. Also along those lines, the product has been extensively overseas (Singapore, Malaysia, China) as well as the US where the environment is much more tough on a paint system with no issues. Initially in the US, we had a few complaints that the product kicking over quickly in humid environments A company we are working with in Florida comes to mind and we changed the directions accordingly after that. this was several months ago and hand no more issues after that. This was a one time problem with the location. the SAME batch of product applied to several other locations is still holding up great and has no issues. What's not being said here is the product that has been sold and had no failure. We have sold for 1 year to date since release over 150 Floor Armor kits with no issues but 2. One was the Florida application that was an application error due to moisture, and one dealing with trying to coat a 1 week old floor. The only other issues have been from this forum. And Im having a hard time proving to a Product fauilure of this magnitude over several batch runs when no other issues have arose other then this forum count.

Everyone Requesting A refund please send me your order info.
Name, address, and what you ordered.
Plus You Must Show me where your failure occured.

I'd like to jump in here after a long away period and try and clear up a few issues. First I'd like to state Chris has been here in the forums trying to answer questions and resolve issues due to the fact I have been away on busn a lot of the time for the last few months and am not able to follow up on forums as much as I'd like. I do enjoy interacting with people on issues via forums and I monitor and read over 30 at this point when I have time.

Venues such as this puts a real aspect on a company I feel, and stops them from becoming just another website on this vast Internet. I feel if I (we) can personally interate with customers we get a better since of issues as well as reactions to products on the market. We do the same for car shows (35 yr) and classes we give each month as I'm doing now.

But I must add that "Corperate" is not to keen on us doing this due to several reasons. One it puts a product in the spot light either good or bad. If it's a a good issue they are happy, we are doing a great job. If it's a bad issue, well hey, it's bad and that's not good. And the fall out can get out of hand at times as the soap box is placed out front and people start taking stand for no reason other then to make a stand and get noticed because they can in a public forums under assumed names.
The first thing that happens when an issue happens is it's posted to the forums such as this and that acceptable. Hey that's why we are here, We hope we fix problems, solve issues, and get to an end result. And also answer questions. But what we have seen over the years, and what Corperate is afraid of is the "ME-TOO" senerio. Granted 99% of the issues we see in forums are valid issues, but, there has been times when there was an issue and it looked like a good time for someone to jump on the band wagon and ride it out to see how far they can get. Not saying it's the case here, but we have in the past tried to help a customer with an issue in public forums, not our direct customer I might add, and like a bad scene in a horor flick, everyone that had ever tried the product jumped on the soapbox stating they had the same issue and better get a refund also. Customer Satisfaction can only go so far. We do it every day. A customer calls us and kindly says they didn't get a $50 shipment, yet Fedex says it was delivered. The question is where did Fedex deliver it to? We can call and have Fedex trace the shipment. (15 days) and await the outcome. But customer isn't going to be happy waiting.. So we just reship the items, and file the claim, take the hit. This type of issue come to pass every day, never missing a lick. We end up shipping product on the word of the customer. It's just good busn. and I understand that after 16 yrs in the busn.

Now, if that customer calls me and starts yelling, screaming, and treatening me. That's another issue. he can wait till hell freezes over for all I care for his items, We'll file claim and let Fedex deal with the issue. It's their issue in reality, I shipped it and can show it was delivered. I have nothing to show it wasn't. And frankly the Credit Card company will back us on the issue, we have proven history of it.

Yet I ramble, I do that sometimes.. The point is POR-15 Corperate "has" seen this thread, belive me. They know all about the issues posted here. And yes tire peel up was one of the tests done on F.A. before it was introduced, both dry and wet, hot and cold. I was part of the 3 years that it was tested. I've seen the test subjects, I've been to and helped apply and inspect several of the tests myself. The issues they are seeing here are out of the norm. It doesn't fit the in the world of numbers. Over 150 kits shipped in the US by us alone and 5 out of 7 issues all arise from just this forums users. 2 of the 7 we were aware of and knew the cause and they were resolved.

That's the issue Chris has been dealing with. The problems are not fitting in with the normal recurance of the product. There have been too many reports of failure from a select source then there should be.

Will the problems be dealt with, yes, that's my promise. But please understand something out of the norm causes flags to arise and I have to deal with that kind of iise on a whole new level.

Please let Chris do what he's here to do, and I assure you this will be resolved. You may be asked questions about your application and specifics of the issue and failures to get more information as to what the real issue is and how we can have it resolved as soon as we can.

I told you the "issue" months ago. Your DENIAL of the problem is typical of companies trying to get out of issuing a refund. POR 15 is a flawed product that PEELS OFF THE FLOOR when warm wet tires are allowed to cool down on the product. South Texas is just as "humid" as Florida. If you apply POR 15 on a garage floor in South Texas it will peel up just like my floor.

Am I "satisfied" with POR 15? No. Would I purchase the product again? No.
Would I recommend the product? No. Do I firmly believe Corporate failed in testing this product adequately? Yes. I would glady accept a partial refund on the product and move on. The partial refund will offset the cost of RaceDeck flooring.

In reality if you want to start splitting hairs, you posted on 09-01-2007, 09:04 AM of the first failure. that's not months.

I have never denied once there was not an issue such as you discribed. Just that we have not seen it in any of out testing done.
The "humid" issues in florida had to deal with uncured concrete in a humid region and moisture comeing back through the slab. Not hot with wet tires. And for your information we have had several floors coated in the Houston area over the last year will no issues.

You have my reply via PM as you requested. I'll be more then happy to discuss this via PM or email, but I'm not going to debate issues that have no end. Once again we have already issued several refunds as requested and others are being worked on.

I have only one issue with POR 15 Floor Armor, albeit, a significant one: Warm, wet tires causes peeling of the floor.

If I allow my tires to cool down for an hour and then park my car in the garage I have NO problem. Explain that please.

I've been trolling around this board for a month or so. I just joined to say that I was ready to go with POR 15 on my new shop floor especially having used thier metal coating products over the last 6 years. BUT, after seeing this thread I'll be ordering U Coat It. Just my 2 cents.

WOW, I love that statement that if you sue us we will make you pay our legal fees. You guys at POR-15 depot take the cake. I only asked for 1 extra gallon of lt gray, 1 gallon of clear and 2 quarts of part B to do patch jobs from the peeling, and this is the way you respond. I have spent almost $700. What about satisfaction gaurenteed:headscrat

Thanks

Fast Cop,

First I don't recall any place where you threatened to sue, unless I missed it, so the commont was not directed at you. Customer Satisfaction has nothing to do with legal treats, we are threated we respond just as any other person world.

One the note of Customer Satisfaction, please advise what your wanting. I have a request from you for a full refund and a request for the product you just stated just to patch issues laster. I'll be happy to do one of these, just state what is required.

And on another note more refunds were issued this morning, the customers involved are being notified ASAP to let them know.

I have no desire to spend the time to rent the equipment required to completely sand and grind the floor. What I would like is just 1 gallon of Lt Gray, 1 Gallon of Clear along with 2 quarts of the part B activator. The only problem I have had is the hot wet tire pick-up. In all other situations I am very satistified with the product and it came out looking just like I wanted it to, but I am not willing to ask my wife to park out in the rain till the tires cool down and then go back out later to pull the car in the garage.

And yes you are correct I did not threaten to sue because I feel that is a last resort, but I have been very frustrated.

I e-mailed Dave/Chris at POR 15 Depot and requested a refund. Dave implied he was willing to resolve the matter fairly. POR 15 Depot seems like an honest organization and POR 15 Floor Armor is ALMOST the best product on the market. Remember, I said "almost" because Corporate has to solve the warm, wet tire issue before this product is ready for true "prime time" in Florida. Perhaps, other climates would do better? POR 15 really does hold up well against EVERYTHING else.

Anyway, I hope Dave will "man-up" and send me a refund so I can order my RaceDeck.

is this product still being sold or will further testing be done before they continue to sell it?

^ more testing? doubt it, but I'm sure they'll say they've done an ample amount of testing and their product is great, etc etc, typical smoke.

regardless, 23,300+ views.. I think potential customers have seen they way POR 15 works and how they treat their customers when their is a problem. I doubt any of those 23,000 are lining up to place orders. Clever marketing scheme you've got their, POR 15!

You won't get my business. Along with the 23,000 who have watched this debacle unfold I will also inform my friends, family, and strangers on the street to avoid this product.

Even if it does work great, and you work your kinks out, the brashness and untimeliness of this company in its replies to its paying customers would prevent me from ever patronizing you.

Dave from POR 15 Depot e-mailed me and said my refund was on the way. I requested a 50% refund and Dave agreed to it.

I must say POR 15 Depot has been honest and fair. The product, POR 15 Floor Armor, needs "upgrading/retooling" for the warm, wet tire issue. I hope Corporate fixes this problem as the product is otherwise First Rate.

Why only 50%?

I agree. You guys had to go through hell and back with your Por-15 failures. I would have wanted a full refund based on the experience that you have had.

Agreed. It would have take a little more legwork, but I would have settled for no less than 100% refund.

I received my refund as well.

Chris and Dave, I appreciate you guys handling this appropriately. The product has flaws, but your customer service has been great since day one.

I would also like to thank Chris & Dave for their excellent customer support. I have finished my garage floor with POR-15 and, to date, I am very happy with the outcome. I have had no peeling under the cars' tires, but I also admit I haven't encountered the specific conditions (hot, wet tires) that caused a problem for BreBar21 and Value. Maybe because I live up here in the 'frozen North'?
I wouldn't mind hearing from POR-15 customers who, like me, have had successful applications of the product.
