If it's regular cementious grout, I normally use two bucksets with 3 or 4 sponges each. Just keep washing and squeezing out your sponge Change your water often. It will help with the hazing and then you won't have to go back the times to re wash the haze off your tile.

Epoxy or urethane grout is a different animal b/c you have to be clean before the grout sets and do a small area and clean about what's in your arms reach.

Dakota- What type of grout are you using? I used Quartz lock 2 in my kitchen and went from a light grey to filthy looking in a short amount of time. No matter how much scrubbing.

Hey Todd, sorry I didn't see your post earlier. The grout I used was Mapei Ultracolor Plus. Is the grout in the kitchen stained from dirt?

Yes- it is stained with dirt. It's as if though it's regular grout that has been walked on for years - I did the floors, and then built the cabinets and counters and painted the kitchen. It was "construction" traffic- me walking in and out of the garage. I have tried Blaze, just about every cleaner short of an acid.

Sorry for the hijack- OP, The floors are looking awesome!

Did you try baking soda & vinegar? OxiClean? Steam cleaning with an agitating brush? If you end up going the acid route, test in a small unseen area first.

Ok finally finished the install. It took me a lot longer then I thought but I did it all myself so progress was slow. The grout ended up being a bit lighter then I wanted so I'm going to seal in so it will darken a bit. I'm also going to paint the concrete edge on the left to match the wall and put up some smaller trim to match the other side. I also need to get my table saw, drill press and car back from a buddies house. The table saw will fit under the countertop and I'm thinking about building a compressor room behind my fence so I can put my drill press in its place. So far very happy with everything.

Thanks Cairo. I just bought my first one. Its a '75 Carrera Targa with a 930 motor. I was able to go pick it up today from a friends house so the garage is now complete.

Your floor looks great! As a newbie, thanks for documenting the process, the discussion with other members adds to my knowledge and understanding.

Well done. I hate my epoxy floor and will go the porcelain route if I ever do another garage. Heck, I may just re-do my current one someday just because.
