Porcelain tile layout question

So I am thinking of doing a 12" x 24" tile for my garage. Should the 24' length be installed parallel to the garage door (direction the car drives over it) or perpendicular? Any difference in strength between the two layouts?

It won't matter a bit strength-wise. Only consideration is aesthetics. I ran my 12x24 with the long size parallel to the g-door opening as I thought that looked better. Plus, the runs were shorter this way so it gave me a little advantage in terms of keeping the rows nice and straight.
Cheers.

I ran mine perpendicular to the garage door opening, I think it makes the garage look bigger.

Looks nice, although your layout raises a question for me. When I installed 12x24 porcelain tile in my kitchen, a 1/3 tile stagger was specified on the box.

Does anyone know what overlap for rectangular tiles is recommended for garage installs and if there is any impact on durability of a staggered vs non-staggered layout? I'm most likely going with Hellfire for my floor, but who know, maybe I'll stumble across a deal on Porcelain that I can't pass up :)

I’ve not tiled a garage (yet) but I’ve done several interior floors with 12x24 tile. 1/3 stagger is strongly recommended to reduce the amount of lippage. Lippage is the difference in elevation between adjoining tile. The bigger the tile, the greater the chances are that they are not perfectly flat. This is especially true with cheaper tile.

Here’s some detail: https://www.tileoutlets.com/blog/managing-lippage-offsets-matter-installing-tile/

I've not heard of "required layouts" such as a 1/3 tile overlay before. That being said, I did do a 1/3 stagger on mine.

In some cases when the tile is not truly flat, manufactures will recommend either stacked or 1/3 stagger pattern. This (as mentioned) will minimize the chance of unevenness with the surrounding tiles.
