I hesitated to post this as

1. It isn't an electrical part I'm trying to locate.
2. The affected components aren't in a garage.

However the Porch Lanterns are located between a couple of Garage Doors on my house so maybe that's close enough to get me a waiver.

These Porch Lanterns were purchased about 28 years ago. Just spent most of yesterday afternoon walking around the house cleaning and doing a little mechanical maintenance on the fasteners.

Would anyone have a source for the white plastic cylinder that the red arrow is pointing to in this picture. It is a thin tube made of white plastic - now very brittle after all these years. The tube's outside diameter is about 7/8-inch and I measured the thickness of the tube's wall at around 30-thousands of an inch (1/32-inch?). The material that the tubes are made of is unknown - perhaps PVC.

In leu of a source for the tubes it might be useful just to know the technical term for them. I am at a loss at what to call them when I do a Google search.

Thanks!

Scott

Those are called candle covers. Typically used in chandeliers.

Could you just use a scrap of white pvc pipe that’s laying around?
Hint: the blue lettering on PVC pipe comes off very easily using acetone or carburetor cleaner.

Look up to see if you have a "real" lighting store in your area -- most do repair and custom work. My local one carries them

Thanks guys!

That response was fantastic! Looks like they're available on-line at Amazon and I suspect others. Once I used the correct nomenclature I could find them.

I suspect PVC pipe might work but getting it the correct inside diameter would probably not be possible. The thickness of the pipe would probably be an issue in the Lanterns that have more than one "candle".

Here's what I found at Amazon.

EDIT: I just did a mental count and, of course, I need a Baker's Dozen (13) HA!

Best regards,

Scott
