I'm getting my shop built soon and will be installing a lift. I've been thinking I'm going to install a Universalift 2 and move the posts out of the way if not in use, but since the shop will be 32x28 dedicated to metal and auto how often am I really going to be moving it out of way?
I know that you have no way of knowing what I will do in the future but I'm asking to see if anyone bought portable for a dedicated shop and just left it in place. Or if moving it out of the way had huge benefits for odd ball projects.
I'll be working on an old IH pickup, probably a smaller convertible at some point I have a medium sized tractor and standard SUV style vehicles currently. Manual lathe and a small VMC will be installed along with some general welding and all the standard automotive toolboxes and odds and ends. The other half of the building will be walled off to dedicate to woodworking (total building size is 32x50).
