I have a new one of these that I got for $100 (long story). I love it and it works great for what I need a compressor for now. That is, car tires, inflating stuff, light cleaning, etc. But I will be buying a 2135TiMAX and I get the feeling that I wont do five wheel lugs without having to wait for it to pressurize again. Maybe not. Maybe it works just fine. I guess that is question #1.
Like anyone else, I'd love an IR or Quincy 60-gal, but that is crazy overkill for my limited use. It seems to me, that a vertical (or horiz, but prefer vertical) 20-30 gal, portable, 120/240 compressor is best for my needs. I can wire my garage for 220V, but I like that I can move it and use it on plain-old 110V if I have to. It should have plenty of juice and volume for an air gun and can be had for reasonable money (I'd like to keep it under $500 for sure). No luck with craigslist around here.
So far, I'm thinking of something like these:
