"Portable" 3-drawer toolbox options

Every time I attempt to search the forum, I get inundated with hits for rolling tool chests and carts so I hope this hasn't been discussed.

I'm looking for a portable style metal, locking toolbox with 3 or 4 drawers and a flip open lid.
This will be a backup tool set that I keep at our family cabin, that is see's lots of guests throughout the summers. It'll stay on a shelf in a small shed--so no room for a toolcart. I'd like the ability to carry it out fully loaded every gal, as winters are long and usually have 6ft of snow.

So far I've crossed the HF Yukon and Craftsman off the list, and several other "generic" brand clones, as they only lock with a poorly made padlock hasp, and they are fairly light duty.

Which leaves the Viper as the only quality box I've come across, that also has a true lock...but it is also the smallest of the lot with only two drawers.

Any other options under say $250 without stepping up to a much larger toolchest top box? I know me well enough to know I'll fill whatever I choose... and a 5-6drawer top box will be far too heavy to consider portable.

Try Homak BW00203200 or Kennedy 220B. Both have integrated keyed locks and are available at your price point if you shop around a bit. Hope you like brown, lol!

What's wrong with a padlock? lock on a toolbox isn't going to stop anyone who wants in, and a padlock will keep the honest people out just as well.

I think the 3 drawer Craftsman is a solid unit even with a hasp.

I don't have any other suggestions but thanks for introducing me to that Viper box. Every 3 drawer I've had in the past has become way too heavy to be "mobile". That looks like it would really force me to pick and choose and I'd still be able to lift it when all is said and done.

I just bought a 4 drawer portable toolbox from tractor supply and would like to see what everyone else uses and how it is organized. The only rule is it must be a box that you carry by yourself. I am waiting for some drawer foam before I organize mine. As soon as I do I will add pictures. Let's...

I've had my old Craftsman since the mid 80's. I was either a building contractor or a commercial carpenter for many years with that box bouncing around jobsites and pickup trucks. When my girlfriend moved in we were setting up her basement shop. I remembered that old thing and took it apart and cleaned & lubed it. It's now in a permanent spot but still doing a grand job of being a tool box. I don't know who made them but they were no nonsense and durable.

I have an old Craftsman 3-drawer that I keep nothing but screwdrivers in. It's solid and very functional, but they are a little too heavy, once fully loaded, to be considered portable. For true portability, I think a tool bag is a better choice, though security is an issue.

If you go on the Walmart internet site you can find all sorts of 3-drawer boxes for ~$100 -- Gearwrench, JEGS, Master Mechanic, etc. My 30 yr old Master Mechanic box (Ace Hardware, True Value?) now resides in my shed and is beat beyond belief. But I also use a plastic Kobalt 3 drawer unit. Not as sturdy, but I don't move it around much nor do I need to lock it.
