I was given one of those battery charger/booster/jump starters on wheels. I didn't use it for quite a while but when I did first plug it in, the unit seems to completely shut down after 30 seconds. Any thoughts? I'm not very good with electronics.

Got a brand/model number? Does it need to be hooked to a battery to stay on? I had a little charger that shut off after a min if it wasn't connected to anything but odds are a big one wouldn't do that.

I just looked it up after reading your post. I'm now seeing that it is not a well reviewed piece of equipment. Anything I should try before scrapping it or looking to give it away to someone that might be better inclined to do some technical repair work?

Wow, those are some terrible reviews. You could open it and look for anything loose or corroded but I bet after looking at those reviews its the control board. I wouldn't junk it, if you have a place like facebutt or craigslist you could offer it for free somebody might want to fix it, convert it to a manual charger, or use it for parts.
