A friend owes me money & wants to give me a Milwaukee handheld band saw.

I have a sawzall & did not see a need for a bandsaw for what I do.

Anyone find a bandsaw useful when they thought they would never need one?

He better not owe you much.
They're fifty bucks at auctions and yard sales.
Hf has one as nice as needed for 99 bucks.
I use one seldom, but it is nice to have.

Thought about the Milwaukee band saw and holder looked at some of the other small bandsaws, I have a full sized one. It depends on what you do, I do quite a bit of fabrication work so. Having the hand held feature is nice. your not going to cut a 4x4 block of al square but it will do real well on many things.
I have had good like with Milwaukee power tools the angle grinder has served me for 30 years and I have had a try with HF ones and they over heat and will not carry the same work load before it jams

Thanks guys. He owes me $100.00 & offered a milwaukee portable band saw. I do some small engine stuff & light welding. I think he is better off paying me my $$.

You guys are great. Thanks for the info/advice.

Take it, you'll wonder how you ever did without it. I own everything damn thing there is for cutting metal and it's the most used tool by a long shot.

They definitely have their place and I would not want to be without one. I have a Porter Cable brand Port-a-Band that has been great.

I don't have a need for a cordless one, but the new cordless models out there sure do look useful. I just wouldn't use one enough to justify it.

For those of you with a cordless Milwaukee unit, there is an awesome stand you can get to drop your bandsaw in to make it a small upright unit. Check it out here: http://www.trick-tools.com/EZ-CUT-Jig-for-Portable-Band-Saw-ezcut-jig-9360

I'd like to make something like that for my Porter Cable unit, but I doubt I'll ever get around to it.
