Hi there and thank you for the add.
I have a portable petrol generator that has stopped producing power. Is this the right place to ask for advice?
It is a 3.8 kVA Jefferson petrol generator JEFFGENPET30ES.
The governor spring broke and I replaced it with an incorrect one which caused the generator to run fast. It stopped producing an output after an hour or so. I thought it was the voltage regulator so I installed a new one (and a new spring).
The generator now runs smoothly at the right speed but still no output. The voltmeter needle moves very slightly (under 3 volts) when the 240V breaker is turned on with no load.
I can test the resistance through the windings but I don't know what the values should be.
I would like to find out if it is worth getting repaired.

The output stopped while it was running so I don't think it will be a problem with the magnet. However, I will try and kick start it with a drill tomorrow.
