I need a generator that I can attach to the tongue of my little enclosed trailer for days at the Kart track. I will use it to run a small A/C unit inside the trailer and maybe a small fan. It was 121*F at the last track day and there was no way to drop body temps (iced towels etc were of little help). I ended up in front of the paramedic with heat exhaustion!

Anyways.....since I will only use it once or twice a month, I don't want to spend a million bucks on it......
Any experience with the (yes, I'm going to say it) Harbor Freight units?
This one looks promising: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=54516
Although I want to save money, I don't want to buy a POS that will work for one day, then quit!
Any help?
Thanks,
Tim

Actually, with the Kubota engine, I'd say that's a nice unit. For $500, you might be able to do better at your local hardware store. I got a Generac (10hp B&S) 5000W at my local hardware store. I cannot remember how much I paid (I think it was about $500 or $600).

Just food for thought....

I just picked up a slightly used Coleman 2500 with a B&S for $200.00. This was used about 12 hours...the original prive tag was $475.00.

If its going to be on the front of your trailer your main consideration should be noise. The cheaper units are ******** loud.

Agreed,I spent a lot of weekends at the track and nothings worse then a
pit neighbor with an obnoxiously loud genset. I'm all for A/C in the trailer but
if you can't carry a normal conversation within 50' of a genset it gets old
pretty quick.
