Does anyone have any experience with a portable single column lift? I was looking at the Redline version Kernel MSC-6KLP. I built a new garage but I don't think I would get the use out of a permanent lift and this one can be moved and shrinks down to 4' x 8' when not being used. Here is the youtube link for the lift:

I know its a bit more expensive but it may be worth the extra money not having to walk around it all the time.

Thoughts?

Ugh, screw that thing. Buy a nice 4-poster lift. Get one that's wide enough and tall enough to park under, that way you don't even know it's there until you need it.

I park my Chevy truck under my lift with no problem. And the lift is absolutely awesome for doing everything on a vehicle. Plus it's very safe.

Unfortunately, a 4 post lift wouldn't suit my needs. I only need for the lift for general maintenance like tires, brakes, oil changes etc. My days of rebuilding transmissions and motors are over. After 20 years as a tech I'm tired of doing that stuff but it kills me to pay someone to change my oil and do maintenance.

it seems like its a lot of work and still you would have to walk around the arms sticking out when not in use making it easy to trip over. I agree with the 4 post. it's way easier on the knees as you never have to get out of the car and adjust the arms , maybe have to struggle a bit if the car is really low. drive the car onto my 4 post and get out and lift real simple. I use mine mainly to store a car and basic maintenance. heck even waxing the car is easier on a 4 post
ps - I don't know your garage size so it is hard to figure why the 4 post is a problem. also something like that would be almost impossible to use on an x frame like my wagon
