I currently have no place to put my personal tools with my new shop being negotiated/built so I'm considering buying a portable 3 drawer box like this: https://m.sears.com/index-g.html#/details/guest/00965628000P?source=online

The idea is I'll be able to put the majority of my most used hand tools in it for the time being and then once I have my cabinet back I'll fill it with tools to carry in the trunk. I have $40 worth of sears points so I'm strongly leaning toward it. What say ye? Any better tool boxes I could get for similar money? I would prefer sears cause i can finally use up those points.

I bought one in the late 90s; different brand.
It worked well enough, but cracked eventually.

I have an 8 year old version of the blue point KRW183C. Removable tray up top and 3 drawers.

I wouldn't buy the plastic again. Weight is the only negative. The tray for your common use items makes it a better overall box.

I've got the Husky-branded version of it and it's going on 4.5 years now...no cracks thankfully. It's got more of my automotive/mechanics tools in it vs. my Veto packs. It's the portable box I'll use when I go to help a friend out with an automotive issue.

The only issue I have is that it gets heavy pretty quickly. I've got a 100+ piece Stanley socket set in it, full assortment of Wiha pliers + screwdrivers, misc. electrical connectors, & other basics to get in enough trouble under the hood. I've been happy with mine.

I'd say if you've got the points, give it a go.

tractor supply has a nice 3 drawer compared to the other brands. roller bearing and even comes with nice foam liners for 39.99. i just bought a 4 drawer for 49.99 from them.
i looked at all 3 drawer recently, and the husky and tractor supply (jobsmart) were the best quality. that box is weak, even the all metal craftsman 3 drawer has cheap, cheap slides.

Well the plastic one with metal drawers isn't available for ~2 weeks at my local store, but an all metal one is. So I think I'm going to go with the all metal. My dad has an all metal from 20+ years ago, and it does alright. I know it's completely different quality then and now but I'm not going to be using this box for too long primarily. It's going to be sitting in the trunk in about 3 months

Went to Sears, just so happened to get there right when they opened. It was nice being one of the only people in the store for a change.

ANYWAY, to the point. I went and checked out the drawers on the tool box, and man do they S U C K! I wouldn't recommend these to anybody. The drawers are just on metal to metal slides, and they bind, don't slide easily, and screech when they are sliding. That's with nothing in them too! I ended up getting a hard plastic 23" box with the removable tray thing for the time being. It was the only thing there that might be worth any money....

Yep. And its 59 bucks when its not on sale. You'd think cm would step up. The husky is only 29 bucks and is roller glides
