Well I have to do everything on the car away from the house
For me staying organized helps completing a job easier and with less stress

I also have a BMW sedan so a portable metal tool box is not going to work very well

99.99% of the tools I have are metric for sized specific tools, sockets and wrenches

Ive got my sockets on the metal rails but there always seems to be a couple that break loose

My extensions I have the Snap On Kits and just toss them in but need a suggestions for those

Same with my wrenches, I go from 6MM up to 27MM of the standard Snap On wrenches
I was thinking a wrench roll but there isnt one that has that many slots

I need suggestions and hints to help get more organized
I am budget minded so please keep that in mind
I put everything into tool bags
Please help

Craftsman has a wrench holder with a handle that keeps them pretty secure, goes up to 18 mm, then just get a small roll or something for the rest. Not a lot of out of box solutions for bigger then 21mm wrenches.

For the sockets, rachets and extensions, I'm going to suggest one of the ernst socket rails. Since you already have socket rails and I'm guessing that will be your preference. The ernst come in a lot of difference variants. For example they have twist lock pegs and also extra duty pegs. Some rails are magnetic and you can lock them together ect. They have small clips you can purchase to attach rachets and extensions to the sturdy socket rails as well. So you just grab one module and it holds all your tools (or most).

As far as transporting all of them, I was reading in another thread; guys will pick up extra dewalt plastic power tool storage boxes and mod them into tool carriers. Just a idea.

I have this box for going mobile:

Not as nice as a Pelican case, but the the trade of is definitely justified by the price difference. After using several different types of boxes this is by far my favorite. Plenty of room, the foam helps keep things from moving around. One suggestion though would be to leave one piece of foam in the bottom, and then glue in one in the top under the piece that normally goes in the lid. This leaves more room in the box, but the extra foam makes it so nothing moves when you pick it up and carry.

Were you replying to KPAero? I also have one of those boxes and have been really happy with it.

I don't know what kind of room your BMW has but here's mine behind the drivers seat of a Saab 9-5.

Here's what mine looks like full and a few showing what I put in it to give you an idea of what it can hold.

There's a few things missing in that last picture but that's what I can fit with three pieces of foam in the box.

For the wrench roll, I might head down to your local theatre (performing, not movie). They usually have a costume shop, and many times the seamstresses are looking for side projects. They could easily make you a wrench roll. Take them an example of what you want and I am 100% positive they could do it for you. Well, at least ours could as I work for a theatre.

In my travel tool bag, I have a wrench clip like this...

it's compact and allows me to keep things organized when I travel.

Used a set similar to FTL1516SET from snap on on F-117's for a year or so before we switched from the soft sided carry bag to the roller pelican case. Really not a bad set up if I were going for maximum tool storage in a nonabrasive leather seat friendly case id do something similar.
