I have a lot of tools mounted on horizontal Receiver Hitches (RH). There are a number of guys with vertical though.
One thing to consider is where you'll store the tools that aren't in use. The long receiver tube takes up lots of space. For this reason I've thought of using a female in the bench and a female on the tool then use a section of the thinner male tube through both (but extra wobble that way).
There are a number of different pinch bolt styles being used to lock the vise down in the tube after so there is no wobble.
A consideration on snugness is - the length of the female host tube and the male tool tube.
EG: If a 1' length of tube has 1/4" of side slop a 2' length of tube should only have 1/8" side slop. A 6" piece would be worse.
The other thing is how far below the bench top you locate the female receiver. If it's too low a vise may have to stick out a ways from the bench because the back of the vise's slide will hit the edge of the bench. If the receiver is high enough the vise slide will sit above the top of the bench. You can even make the vise mount in a way that most of the entire vise will locate almost completely on top of the bench ( a vertical mount would do this anyway so it's an advantage here).
I love the RH system and have about 25 host receivers built into benches, pedestals, bike lift, lathe table, etc. I have bench grinders, vises, tube bender, large parts trays or tables, angle iron "V" trough for welding pipe and other stuff set up for quick mounting into benches on the hitches.
