So ive got a 6gal pancake that I use for odd jobs around the house that my hose for the 60 does not reach. Have had it for at least 6yrs and here recently instead of shutting off when full the pressure realse pops open and unit will not shut off. The hose from tank to motor gets super hot. After reading and messing with it, it has been decided the pressure switch has gone out and is about $30 on ebay.

So, long story short, should I replace it and hope it last, or find me a more reliable pancake? From reading online once it happens they said it continues to happen. Any first hand experience here with this issue?!

the pressure switch sounds bad as you've diagnosed. I would not see any connection to "once it happens it continues to happen" it does not make any sense to me.
I would invest in a new switch. and as far as the pipe getting hot, that's normal
