I have the opportunity to purchase this old PC trim saw. Info is scarce on this tool. Does anyone have any experience with this tool? Functionality, build quality

It is worm drive.
There are a couple of PC hand power tool experts at Owwm.org.

That is the grandfather to the more modern PC 314. Based on the gearcase size, I'm guessing that is grease rather than oil lubed and particular inspection should be performed making sure the worm and worm gear are in good shape. The later oil lubed ones much like those from Skil and several other manufacturers allowed better protection from the greater sliding action of worm and worm wheel gears vs. the pinion/spur gear drives of sidewinder saws which were and still almost exclusively gear lubed.
