Yes , Dewalt (black & decker ) bought a great tool company just to downgrade them & eliminate a competitor.

Stanley bought b & d, and it's only getting worse.

Most older PC tools are great

Why do you ask?
_____

Was PC circ blades a unicorn? Cheap, awesome, easy to find?

If not, who cares, there are dozens of decent blades out there right now. Even imports are as good or better then older USA made blades with the advances in mfg.

Diablo/Freud sells 10's of thousands, many made in Italy, to 95% happy customers.

I'm thinking about buying a PCE 300 or 310 and couldn't find an extra blade made by the same company..Many websites say they're discontinued.

That's a 7-1/4" circular saw - about the most common size saw on earth. You can find a blade for that in any store that sells saw blades and thousand's of places on line. The fact the PC discontinued the blades means nothing.

Buy a Freud blade and be done with it if you need an extra blade.

Do yourself a favor, buy any circ saw you want, and buy a Freud/Diablo blade. Cant go wrong.

If you really want a better saw, go no further then the Makita 5007, tried and true.

Black and Decker owns Porter Cable, and more recently purchased Irwin Lennox, a company known for their saw blades.
The best guess if a Porter Cable blade has been discontinued, is that the product has either been renumbered, which B&D has done with their brands in the past, or the product was discontinued because B&D felt one of the Lennox blades was higher quality, and wanted to switch that into the product line in place of the old model.
Neither of the Porter Cable saws mentioned above was one of the older USA made PC saws, so the blade might have simply been an import as well.
Look up the specs of the blade such as tooth count tooth design and kerf width, and see if any of the Lennox blades matches, or if another convenient brand comes close.

When I bought my cordless saw last year one went into the basket immediately after. The blade that came with the saw is still sitting in the bag with the manual. The Freud/Diablo blades cut better than anything else I've used.
