Porter Cable Vintage Sander restored!

I spent the last 6 months restoring this beautiful 4x54" 250lb Porter-Cable sander. I fired it up for the first time and I did the 'nickele' test. Such a beautiful machine. 3ph 3/4 HP.

My G-4 was the first Porter-Cable stationary machine I owned; for initial grinding of plane irons and chisels, it's beyond reproach.
You did a really nice job. I'm a bit jealous of the war finish tag!

Thanks Jack. I want to redo the pics on the vintage machinery page, that is why I didn't put them up here as I need to take a few more new pics.

The thing I am proudest of is the side shield which is an exact copy of the original piece. The bearings in the idler pulley are now sealed bearings so no longer a need to oil them. The motor has new bearings and I removed about 2 lbs of grease from inside the motor.

I don't know if anyone noticed but the motor is sideways on the stand, very different from its original position. The factory where I got it told me it has always been that way. I tried to rotate the stand but the bolt down holes wouldn't line up...

I still need the fence for the work table. I am making a mickey mouse setup for now.
