Porting tools

Haven't been here the last couple weeks but after much disappointment from people not being able to keep their words, can someone recommend me some good porting/polishing tools?

Also, pics or links to what you have would be nice also

summit racing has a couple of porting kits available.

Eastwood also sells porting kits, but I suspect Summit is cheaper. Standard Abrasives has a nice little starter set of stones and rolls that can be purchased on line from numerous outlets.

I would recommend saving your money and investing in a better set of heads/TB/manifolds etc unless you have serious money to play. Porting seems like a common sense, cheap, and straight forward way to make more power, but flow through heads is a rather tricky black art in many cases. Minor changes to port geometry quite often have a major impact on the flow, and predicting whether its an improvement or not is almost impossible. Unless you have a good quality flow bench (not a DIY POS) and multiple parts to experiment on, you might just end up ruining good parts.

Mix of carbide burs in various shapes and a eastwood kit or two along with some time and good light and your rolling. I find it to be relaxing work, go slow.

I prefer the Eastwood porting kit. I have the 4 piece long reach carbide tools, then use the Eastwood sanding rolls, again on a long reach arbor. The carbides have held up well after 6 sets of heads. The long reach really allows you to get where you need to. I haven't found a tapered sanding roll that will stay together after 10 minutes. But that may be more techinque than anything else.
