I've dealt with some fiber glass and carbon fiber in the past and I know they make dyes to color the resins for those applications. Now since those dyes are formulated for use with epoxies it seems reasonable to me that they could also be used for coloring epoxy flooring.

I know some companies like U-Coat-It have colored epoxies and I figure that is what they are using. So for those of you that are going to use the Rustoleum Industrial epoxy and only have one color option (gray), this might be something to look into.

There is also a pearl pigment additive that supposedly gives the look of Mother of Pearl. That would look crazy if it actually showed up well.

When I bought my epoxy from Sherwin Williams, the salesman asked me what color I wanted. I asked him what was available and the slapped his full color book in front of me. He told me I could get any color I wanted. I just stuck with gray though. The epoxy came clear, he had to mix the gray for me.
A pearl effect would look nice for a show garage.

Rustoleum Industrial can be mixed to any color.

Where? Do you have a link or number? LuckyDevil's link in his original review only shows grey.

Thanks in advance.

FYI, I ordered some of that pearl pigment. I'm going to experiment with the Rustoleum Industrial to see if it will take.

UPDATE: The pigment does NOT take to the Rustoleum Industrial epoxy very well. It kinda takes, but it would take a lot more pigment than their suggested 1 oz. per quart formula. I was going to do 1/3 of my 3-car garage in pearl white and the other 2/3 in black. So I got 8 of the pearl pigment and mixed them into the 2-part epoxy mix. Well, the first issue I ran into was getting the pigment out of the little bottles. It was very thick in consistency and would not come out easily at all. What I did get out only turned the epoxy into maybe a half shade of grey lighter than the original, if that much. Bleh. Very disappointing.

So I thought I would have better luck with the black pigment. And I did, mainly because I used 12 oz. instead of the suggested 8 oz., and the black pigment flowed out MUCH easier from the bottles. However, the mix turned out only a dark grey--still many shades short of black. Maybe if I would have used 20 bottles it would have come close to black. Who knows.

Oh well. Just thought I'd give you guys a heads up, in case you wanted to try it yourself...

On a good note, the epoxy seems to be holding up well. No lift from hot tires and very easy to clean up. Tire marks just wipe right off! :rocker:
