We've had our annual SK Day for the past couple years, so if it does materialize, this would be the third one. As usual, the purpose of this thread is to gauge whether there is enough interest for Harry J. Epstein and SK to host another one this year. I've spoken with Jori briefly, and he is all for it.

Giving the timing we have now, assuming there is enough interest, I am thinking maybe Epstein and SK could host this annual event during the Thanksgiving weekend. It probably would be a perfect timing to do our Christmas shopping and hopefully the tools will arrive before the big day :D However, the date would ultimately be determined by Epstein and SK.

So vote away!

Will SK actually ship the stuff they offer, or stop production months after?....(referring to the beak nose pliers;))

I must have been the only guy that actually got his SK beak nose pliers from epstein day.:D

Truth be told, I voted nay for SK day for a variety of reasons. First, SK hasn't released any new products other than the mega expensive aluminum bodied tool carts since the last SK day. Secondly, it's hit or miss ordering from SK as to how quickly you'll get your stuff. Lastly, I just don't really need anything from them. Now if they were to release a fine toothed pear head ratchet, the elusive drop in round head ratchet replacement kit based on their X frame ratcheting wrench that has been in development for more than a few years, or perhaps a different X frame ratcheting wrench version, I'd be interested. :dunno:

That's about where I'm at. So far I have all I really need from SK until some of the new stuff we've been hearing about comes to fruition.:dunno:

I'd be interested, there are a few things in the SK catalog I'm interested in for a good price. I'd also be shopping for my cousin, who is just starting out on his own, and has basically no tools to speak of.

I voted Nay.
Not that I'm against SK, but I think it's well past time that we do something for another US tool manufacturer. We need to spread the GJ love.

I bought 2 of the SK socket sets this past summer on SK day. I've been well pleased with both SK and HJE.

I wouldn't be opposed to another SK day. However my wife might argue against it LOL

I'd be in for SK Day during Thanksgiving weekend. I missed July's event. There's a lot of other things going on that weekend, but if I knew ahead of time, I'd plan and save up for it. There's a few things I'm interested in, specifically a nice complete 1/2" drive socket set. And those new special edition green metal cases look really tempting!

I'd love to get a set of 6 point inch long pattern combo wrenches. Last year they only had 12 point inch and 6 point metric on sale.

Nay for me as well... only because they don't have anything I am currently interested in buying at this time.

Meh, I voted nay.

SK doesn't offer anything currently that peaks my interest. They really need to start getting some new tools out to the market...

Yeah, yeah, X frames, I know...

I almost pulled the trigger on one of the SK metal box socket sets last HJE day, but I'm not a fan of the ratchets. Nothing against 'em, just not a big fan. I'd rather see them offer socket sets in metal holders or something like that. I need another standard 3/8" ratchet and 6" extension like I need a hole in the head...

What i'd really like to see is DBE X Frames or fixed/ratcheting same size BE. How about a new ratchet based on the X Frame ratcheting mechanism? How about a QR ratchet function, locking flex?

I have no idea what's going on over at Ideal/SK, but they seem to be in no hurry to come to market with new hand tools. SK ratchets/sockets, for the most part are the same as my grandfathers, from what I can tell. Albeit with modern QC & delivery issues...Frankly, I'm tired of waiting

Rant over :eyecrazy:

I'd vote yes for another SK day. Would all SK stuff be on sale? Or just certain items marked down? I'd like to get another one of those XXL 3/4" breaker bars and a 3/8" in a 1/4" body flex ratchet. Wobble extensions. Possible a socket set.

Plus I'll say the SK beanie and charger thing I got last year free with my order was pretty cool.

But on a side note. I'll voting yes, I do agree that it'd be nice to see if there could be certain days for other U.S. manufacturers.

I'm in for 1/2" drive 6pt sockets, fractional 6pt long pattern combination wrenches, metric and fractional x-frame ratcheting wrenches, 6pt deep metric and fractional 3/8" drive sockets, hmmm...

Maybe some other stuff too.

I love my 6pt metric long pattern wrenches, 6pt 3/8" drive sockets and 3/8" drive Allen sockets from last year.

I placed my order seconds after midnight to ensure that I got some beaky goodness. But later I added some stuff to my order which put me into the "cancelled" category. :willy_nil

What i'd really like to see is DBE X Frames or fixed/ratcheting same size BE.

I'd be in for some of those!

For those of you wanting something new from SK apparently they're making some new ratchet prototypes.

I'd be down if those ratchets are released by whenever we have this. Still could be months before those are out though

Not me, spread it around some more.

Find a small company and help get the word out on them. No suggestions at the moment.

Why not wait until January/Feb and we can decide between Wright and SK. Both will be brining some new tools to market by then (hopefully...)

Generally, an event like this is more about supporting an USA manufacturer rather than to showcase new products. SK is known to be a very good compromise as compared to the "big three" when it comes to main line of tools (ratchets, sockets, wrenches, etc). I am sure a few of you here probably will disagree which is fine; however, I believe I am speaking for the majority here. Of course, it seems the biggest complaint about SK is maintaining inventory. SK just came back to life after a bankruptcy a few years ago, so their new managements and infrastructure still have a bit of maturing to go. While not perfect yet, it seems to me that they are getting better over time with quality and fulfilling orders in a timely fashion (for the most part).

While SK might not have much new products to introduce as of now, this still would be a good opportunity for those that are looking to start building or expanding their toolboxes, or even just to fill out a few spots missing in their existing sets. As with previous events, discounts (and goodies too) probably can be expected, as it is their way of saying "thank you" for our support ;)

That green selector looks awesome, definitely a good looking ratchet.

I'm wanting to get one set of x-frames in SAE, one in metric. One of those new ratchets if they are available. If the discount is pretty good, would consider a roto-ratchet for a gift.

I would honestly be more for a Wright Day, we have had sk days before, but Wright would be new and exciting!
