I moved into a new home w a nice lift master overhead unit in place but recently installed a 4 post lift and while both cars fit - I would like to raise the track a foot or more up for added clearance. Given its not a drastic raise - could I use the existing lift unit if I modified the track and just raised everything a bit?

Yes, you want to look for a high lift track kit. Raise of the tracks and the opener should do just fine.

Yes. If you modify it and a person/human can lift it up, then a machine can, too. Obviously, you also need to move the opener up respectively.

There is a limit to what you can do with curved tracks and a straight opener. That limit can be increased if you use a longer link between the opener and the door. When you start figuring out the geometry, you'll see what I mean.

Depends on what a "bit" is. If you look at what you have now, the top rollers are actually in the curve of the track. When adjusted correctly the opener pulls the door up a little before it pulls straight back. High lift puts the top rollers in a vertical track so it will stress the door every cycle. Residential door tracks are available in 20 and 32" radius. Those numbers may vary a bit by manufacturer but that would allow the door to go higher with your existing opener and springs. You will probably need to get longer cables and will have to extend the opener arm.
