Hello, All. I was cleaning up some old screwdrivers and came across this one. Wood handle, and the ferrule is stamped "Mechanics Tool & Forge Co. Sabina O. " Could this be an early MAC tool? Hang hole is off center, so I am guessing that was drilled by FO. Thanks!!

Might want to read this thread, from the stickies above. Might need to add Mechanics Tool to the MAC header @Private Lugnutz

If by "header" you mean the name I use for the link in the A-Z index, I try to keep it simple and use the most recognizable term. In this case, that's "MAC". If someone is searching GJ on "Mechanics Tool & Forge," it's likely they don't know it's an early form of MAC. But they'll find that thread. If someone is using the Sticky Index looking for a thread on MAC Tools, "MAC" is best. In this case, I suspect @lptools either knew the name was connected with early MAC, or derived a connection intuitively from the location. Either way, if they had opened the Sticky and scanned the A to Z index, they would've eventuslly seen "MAC", clicked on it, and confirmed their intuition. I could expand it and also use the early name, parenthetically, but that would be long and messy, and, MAC actually had a few predecessors, including Mechanics Tool & Forge, Mac Allied Tools, and Clinton Tools. Even longer and messier. The thread itself eventually gets into the history and the names.
