Gents,

New to the forum. Hello all!

I am in the process of possibly purchasing a used lift from a local guy. The lift is not installed but he stated it worked fine when he purchased it 5 years ago from a shop that was closing down. Lift is stored in his garage.

I tried to find some information on the lift but there isnt much due to the company going out of business.

The lift is a Grand, Inc. Two-Post Low Ceiling Auto Shop Lift. Model TP6. It has a 6,000 lb capacity.

Now, I know that a 6K lift cant lift some of the heavier trucks and SUVs but I do a lot of work on smaller cars and muscle cars.

I wanted to see if anyone on here knew anything about these lifts, reliability, track record, things like that.

Let me know if you have any information on this lift.

Ready... and.... OPEN FOR DISCUSSION! ;)

Thanks guys!

Chris

mtwaterguy,

Thanks for the response! Yeah, I saw that company. I am planning on using them if I need any parts.

I wanted to see if anyone heard anything good about these lifts or if they have one and can give feedback.

Just trying to justify spending the money on only a 6K lift. :)

I have a Grand 2 poster, Im pretty sure mine is a 7000 pound, i bought it in 1987 and it is still used commercially everyday(i closed my auto repair shop in 2005 but lease the building out now and it is still a auto repair shop and that lift is still in use today!)I am on my 3rd set of equalizer cables and i just replaced the power unit last year.. so ..what in 26 years of everyday commercial use. thats not to bad..its been pretty reliable

heres another source that i use for lift parts, great service from these guys!

Willys,

Thanks so much for the update and input on the Grand Lift. I want to purchase it but my concern is the fact that its only a 6K lift.

One becomes limited as to what you can lift with a low weight like that.

To boot, the person selling it said the lift hasnt been installed in quite some time. Said he bought it 5 years ago and its just been sitting in his garage. Just dont know...
