This is my 20K post.

I thought initially it should be in Free Parking....but...Free Parking is a bit 'disconnected' from the members.

Some might recall my stunt when I passed 10K posts.....I said I was bailing out.

It was great to hear all the "Don't leave" posts. In retrospect, it was pretty immature on my part.

I'm posting this because of the MIA thread. Too many of those MIA are gone, not because the got banned, but because they are no longer breathing O2 (I'd like to phrase it another way, but one must maintain political correctness)

Observations....

The NO Religion or Politics rule is a good one. I've been here long enough to really appreciate it. For those who disagree, you will understand when you grow up.

The Mods are going a great job. The rules are set....don't put the mods in an uncomfortable position.

I personally know quite a few of you.....including one Mod (You know who you are and owe me a ride around the track).

This is a great forum with a great number of members...and a fantastic array of knowlege.

Keep the faith...keep it clean.

(I wonder how many hours I've spent here?)

John

Congrats! I enjoy your posts. You have seen a lot of stuff as anyone in your business would. Stay safe and put up another 20.

Congrats! I enjoy your post and perspectives. Stay safe out there as you do have one of the riskier careers.

I remember that 10K fiasco, that about got you banned with the second account.. . . John was going to try to argue with himself.

Congrats on the milestone John, keep pecking away on the computer. When you figure out your hours here, let me know. I'll just figure a ratio to count mine up.

A milestone for sure!

Agree on the issue of keeping it "Garage/tool/toys in the garage/related to the garage oriented. Lots of griping yesterday on forum I hang out on, about a RELATED forum, that got deplatformed from GoDaddy when the posts got out of hand.

Let's make this a little more sporting. How about you try to pull him over on the track? Say you can get within a car length?
The last time was too easy. Give him a fighting chance this time :3gears:

I agree, the Mods here do a FANTASTIC job, and pretty much completely in the background. Thanks to all the moderators!

Also agree, no politics or religion talk is so great. I don’t want to hear that ****, from either side. I come here to get tool/technique tips, and once in a while contribute something. This is my favorite forum of all time!

Congratulations on another Garage Journal milestone John!

Have you checked to see how long it took you to amass the first 10k posts and compared it to the time it took you you amass the second 10k posts? Might be an interesting metric!

Hmmm.....I might do that.

But I think I can say the 'quality' of my posts is much better than the first 10k....early on I spent too much time in the Free Parking section....and got dragged into some stupid debates...

My 9999 post was in Aug 2013.
I joined in July 2008 as I was building my garage.

So it would appear I've slowed down a bit....quality over quantity?

Seems like there should be a rule about congratulating yourself, kind of like you can't "you ****" yourself...........

You kinda have a point....

I just remembered.....if a thread is removed and you posted in it, your post count goes down for each post you had......another good reason to stay out of FP.....or at least the caustic ones.

So if you had a dollar for every post, you still couldn't buy a decent new car or a 2 car garage to put it in.
So now that I got you thinking about putting a dollar in a jar for every post, maybe you can have a future GJ party with the money!?!?!?
Now, if I could get a dollar for every "written post" I see in the "Post your interesting/cool/unusual GIFs here!" thread, (too many comments, not enough pic content) I'd be rich!!!! :wtf:

Keep posting and we'll keep reading!

Congratulations on the milestone!

I did some quick math and with my current post pace, I'll be there in 2072...
