I guess this feature is supposed to improve the site by doing what??? limiting access to people who want to use the site????

I dont get it, and it *****! It makes your forums with restrictions useless unless you have been posting around for a while. fine and dandy if you thats what you do but really ***** for some newbie like me who just needs some help to get the job done.

So does the post count include replies?:lol_hitti

The only place you can't post is the Classified section. You can get the help you need i any of the other forums.

Sad thing, but a place that we all started from. Make a few posts and help someone else and enjoy the forum. BTW, welcome.

It ***** for members that have been around for a few years and don't post regularly but visit frequently. I want to place a wanted ad, but I don't feel like spamming posts to get my count up.

I can see it promoting garbage posts just to fill up the count.

Can we modify the rules to allow for 100 posts or say a year or two of membership?

Well the forum is not all about classifieds and the set up was designed to stop abuse and spam but you also make a good point about years membership.
The idea was to make members active on the forum and join in and not just abuse the forum with spam. Spammers get shown the banned list very quickly.

Serious question: why don't you post more often if you are here frequently? You have no questions to ask and no advice to give in the thousands of threads that develop?

Generally if I have a question it is something already posted, so, I use the search function often. My preference is to search rather than create new threads that often duplicate old threads.

for example (ignore the "was that so hard part"): http://lmgtfy.com/?q=site%3Agaragejournal.com+6+vs+12

If I feel I have something to add, I add it. With a forum that has around 232,000 threads and 3,792,000 posts restraint from posting is sometimes not a bad thing.

Maybe I use the site a bit differently than other members, but it still is a valuable resource to me.

You are entitled to use the site that way if you see fit. I admire your restraint
but surely you must see somethings you would like to comment on.

Cant post in the "wanted" forum either

You have found the restriction that was put in place after some one ruined it and this rule then came about. If you read some of the replies you will learn why

Is English your only Language?

I think we should leave that alone and be nice. I often make a typo error.

The forum needs people to post, if you see a thread, bring it back and ask your question. I love having all the information in one thread and that gets it done. Don't worry about all the idiots that flame members for thread resurrection. They will also flame people for not searching, so you can't win.

If you are on a forum for multiple years and can't get to 100 posts, that means you are not part of the community.

Start a thread of your own projects or about your garage. Comment on others, sometimes it is nice just to have your thread bumped, even if it isn't meaningful.

Yes, the site is a resource to you, but if you aren't posting how can you be a resource to it?

One can use the site as a library or database, or one can use it as a community. If using it as a community, achieving 100 sincere posts (not nonsense to scramble to 100 so you can buy or sell) is no problem.
