I'm wanting to build a PB using post, I read that the 4x4 tend to twist and are generally considered a waste of time. So I'm needing to know should I just jump right into 6x6 or will a 4x6 suffice. I'm planning on building a 16x22 garage. Thanks guys

The posts in my pole building are laminate 2 x 6's, in other words, three 2 x 6's put together with construction adhesive and then nailed about every 16". The company that built the post then ran them thru a planer, but if you build them yourself, I don't think it won't be necessary. To do this, you would need several large clamps.

I built a 16' x 24' garage type building up here in Jonesboro. Going in I knew that I wanted a concrete floor. When I did the numbers I considered both a pole building and a stick frame.

In both buildings the component costs for concrete, metal roof and sidewalls, garage and walk doors, roof trusses, and perlins were the same.

Stick built walls cost a bit more but did not require digging holes and offered increased protection from termites and post rot. I thought the additional benefits outweighed the small additional cost.
